what is qpstOk so i need help from either a cell phone genius or pc wiz, i think?!?!?!?

ok so im trying to get ringtones onto my new samsung glyde (verizon) and i found this on a forum but i have no idea what the hell it means or what i have to do..tell me in english..here it goes...n whats QPST???

Well after checking out this site I could not find anywhere how to send the ringtones via USB. However I did find on Howardforums how to do it.

I have sucessfully added ringtones to my Glyde and here is how. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SCREW YOUR PHONE UP. This worked perfectly for me.

What you need:
1 - QPST (I do not have a link)
2 - Any audio editing program

How to do it:
1 - Pick out an MP3 that you would like to use as a ringtone.
2 - Open your MP3 in any audio editing program (I used adobe soundbooth)
3 - Cut the parts of the song out that you don't want (My longest is 36 seconds) and add fade ins/outs if you want
4 - Save the ringtone. I saved mine as an MP3 at 128kbps stereo and the total filesize came to 564Kbs.
5 - DO AT YOUR OWN RISK: Open QPST EFS Explorer and select your phone (If it is not in the box then you must open QPST configuration and add the correct COM port, then it will work)
6 - The program will attempt to read the phone's file system. (I get two errors during this prwhat is qpstocess but everything works fine still) Browse to \brew\mod\19920\ringtones\
7 - Drag your MP3 file from your computer, to the filearea in QPST and it will upload the file.
8 - Go to File->Exit and click the button to allow QPST to reset your phone. Once your phone resets browse to your settings and sounds, then ringtones, and there it is.

GOOD LUCK!

I do not credit for this, and of course give credit to cows-taste-good.

I can attest that it works, you just need to find the program.

here's the actual forum site:

all help is welcome
forget all that. use phonezoo. it txt's the tone straight to you, when u get it go to options, save as tone, and yur done.
You should think simply bout this things.. dont make it complex .
This is for general phones including iphines - blackerry storm. I have samsung OMNIA And I dont use wat you said.

1- arrange for the MP3 that you wanna use it as a ring tone
2- when you connect your cell phone to your pc . You will find a drive in my computer represented your phone otherwise, you will find it as in mymobile device in the my computer as well

3- open the mymobile device and search for a location that you wanna to put the ring tone

The idea here iswhat is qpst to give the phone the file ( And this should be without any external software - microsoft synch is more than enough for this )

after you get the tone in your mobile you can configuire it as you like

Feel free to cotact me at ALIENGINE@YAHOO.COM If you need any further advice. I will be happy to help you.
QPST is Qualcomm Product Support Tool ( ). It is a set of tools for doing advanced configuration.

But however, I see it, I don't think you really need that program. I don't have Glyde, but most mobile phone allows you to browse their filesystem like USB Drive. On most mobile phone, once you connect the phone through USB or Bluetooth, the mobile phone will appear on My Computers like USB Drive and you'll just need to put your ringtones in a specific folder (in this case \brew\mod\19920\ringtones\ ).

If Samsung doesn't make this easy, it seems that Samsung have followed a backward step together with Apple in making a deranged product.

Alternatively, see this site:

Upload your ringtones to certain site, and browse the link they give with your phone's mobile browser to download the ringtone.
